Operational Support and Service of a Jenbacher Gas Engine Power Plant

Project presentation

As part of our ongoing commitment to reliable and efficient decentralized energy solutions, we recently completed a scheduled service and operational assessment at an industrial gas engine power plant in Hungary. The intervention focused on a Jenbacher J320GS-C05 gas engine unit, operating in base-load mode as a key element of the site’s power generation system.

With more than 52,800 operating hours, the unit represents a long-term operational asset where stability, availability, and preventive maintenance are essential to ensuring continuous power supply.

Looking for a First-Class Service Partner? Plant industrial engineering is here for you.

The scope of the service activity included a comprehensive technical inspection of the engine and its associated monitoring systems. Special emphasis was placed on reviewing pressure control parameters, sensor installations, and operational limits, all of which are critical for safe and efficient engine operation.

A physical inspection of the installed sensors was carried out, including recently integrated DT-series components, to verify correct installation, functionality, and data reliability. Accurate monitoring is a fundamental requirement for effective engine control and long-term asset protection.

Project Scope

Key Findings and Recommendations

The assessment confirmed that the gas engine unit is operating in a stable and reliable condition. In parallel, a set of targeted recommendations was defined to further enhance operational security and support long-term performance. These recommendations focus on preventive actions aimed at minimizing unplanned downtime, optimizing component lifetime, and maintaining compliance with defined operating thresholds.

Such measures are particularly important in multi-megawatt gas engine power plants, where even minor improvements in reliability can deliver significant operational and financial benefits.

Value for the Client

Through this service intervention, the client benefits from:
  • Improved operational transparency through verified sensor performance
  • Reduced risk of unexpected shutdowns
  • Extended service life of critical engine components
  • Sustained efficiency and availability of the power generation system

The project demonstrates how expert engineering support and proactive maintenance contribute directly to the long-term success of decentralized power plants.
